Screen readers that work well

  • NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (macOS) read our controls reliably.
  • Focus order follows the page visually; skip‑link lands on the article.

Keyboard + voice in practice

  • Tab to the mic, press Enter, speak the move, Esc to stop if needed.
  • The app confirms moves and game state out loud. If nothing happens, try the command once more clearly.

Commands that are easiest to say

  • “e4”, “d5”, “knight f3”, “castle king side”, “promote to queen”.
  • For captures, say “takes”: “bishop takes f7”.

Microphone tips

  • Closer beats louder. Stay a consistent distance and speak at a normal pace.
  • Turn off always‑listening assistants while you play to avoid conflicts.

Export games for study

  • Use PGN export in the app to review games in your favorite tool. Voice analysis commands are not live today; we’ll label them clearly when they are.

We’re building for real use—if something in this flow makes your experience worse, tell us. We’ll fix the workflow before adding new bells and whistles.
